A Symbol of Freedom and Strength by Andrew Sanders When Francis Scott Key saw the tattered American flag, it gave him the idea to write The Star Spangled Banner. I agree with him that America is still strong and free. I think of liberty when I watch the USA flag. I think of men dying at the Revolutionary War. Outside my house the colorful flag waves in the wind like a bald eagle soaring through the sky. It helps us remember our freedom. When my friends and I freely sing the National Anthem at History Club, I feel grateful for our beautiful country. Sometimes I see army men, who protect our country, bravely saluting the flag, and I’m glad that American is free. I love it! The flag unites us as a country, even in the hard times, like 911. Mostly, I think the flag is a symbol of freedom and strength.
